Universal Children's Day
Universal Children's Day. In 1954 the United Nations General Assembly asked the nations of the world to observe their Declarations of the Rights of the Child. Millennium Development Goals for all humankind set in 2000 by the world's leaders address children's rights in the areas of poverty, education and prevention of HIV/AIDS. Not all the world's children are as lucky as my beautiful grandchildren who live comfortably, in safety, with parents who adore them (grandparents, too!). They have enough to eat, they're warm and protected, and they can aspire to do or be anything they want. Every child in the world should have these basic needs met as well as be allowed these same opportunities!
