I live in a country that is in mourning today. Mourning for the brutal murder yesterday of 12 of its citizens by armed terrorists. Last night spontaneous vigils were held in cities and towns throughout France for the victims. At noon today, the entire country will pause for a minute of silence to not only honor the people who lost their lives yesterday, but also to stand in solidarity for freedom...freedom to speak, to write, freedom of the press. It doesn't matter if you found Charlie Hebdo entertaining or if you agreed with its politics, the freedom to speak and write and report is a vital right of a free society; we cannot let it be destroyed by hate.
