A Writing Weekend

Parisot Writing Group with Amanda Hodgkinson
April 2015
What a great weekend I had! How can you beat good friends, good food and good, hard work? My writing group met in Anita and Richard's lovely restored schoolhouse in Mazerolles for a weekend of writing with author, Amanda Hodgkinson. She facilitated our workshop last year, so we knew in advance that we were in for a hard-working treat. Each of us submitted 2000 words of a work-in-progress for Amanda and our fellow writers to read and critique. We spent Saturday expanding our work with exercises on character, setting, and dialogue. Sunday was critique day when Amanda and the others offered thoughts on each person's creative writing. Interspersed with the work....treats, lunch, wine, Bob's homemade sloe gin, and a lovely potluck dinner with spouses. It was a wonderful way to spend a weekend. I've come home fired up to write!

  1. Evelyn that sums the weekend up perfectly. I'm glad you're feeling inspired. Bob insisted I keep the remains of his homemade sloe gin - yum!
